The December showings of the film boast a unique twist: fans are not just allowed, but encouraged to cry at the screening. Because of the heavy subject matter of the finale of Attack on Titan, crying is to be expected anyway in any showing of the film, but these special events were designed to create a more welcoming environment for those overcome with emotion about the movie to express their feelings. For a while, fans were unsure if The Last Attack would be released internationally at all, but considering how well it has done in Japan, it is no major surprise that it is receiving a widespread release.
